Product Overview
FOX Nation is an American subscription video-on-demand service, carrying programs based on original opinion-based talk shows and documentary-style programs.
I worked on the web, mobile app, mobile web, and living room platform for FOX Nation. As part of a cross-functional product team, I worked on various features, design updates, and redesigns on different parts of the platform (from Events pages, and Electronic Program Guide to Video playback) by collaborating directly with the product owner and creating high-fidelity wireframes that could be handed off to the developers for implementation.

So without further ado, let's get into it
The Platform
This project aims to invent a collective platform for the living room consisting of multiple FOX channels where users can access them from one place. This also helps get the content accessible through the living room platform for our demographic.
Problem
-
Based on Market Research and User testing, FOX has various platforms from Nation, Sports, and Business to News that have separate applications/web pages
-
Users need to download and view all these applications separately making it a bit cumbersome.
FOX Business
Currently, our FOX News and Business platforms can only be accessed separately.
FOX News
The platforms are not incorporated into the Living room platform and lack a seamless connection,
Solution
-
One solution was to develop an MVP version of the Living Room integrating FOX Business and News.

-
This allows users to seamlessly switch between news and business within the same app, eliminating the need to download a separate application.
We designed the FOX News living room interface, featuring a sidebar navigation that houses the multi-platform toggle option.
The sidebar overlay includes the platform logo, allowing users to access menus of other platforms for their selection.
Here is the menu containing options to switch platforms, which users can select to transition to different options.
Upon choosing the FOX Business platform option, the user is directed to the FOX Business living room interface.
Process
The custom diagram describes the process we followed as a team to deliver this project to the development team. It shares a trend with the universal design process with custom and dynamic steps.
Results and Learning
-
Thanks to the prototype and the newly crafted visual designs, the stakeholder presentation marked a significant leap forward in innovating the platform and streamlining the redesign process.

-
Throughout this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with the senior vice president and other stakeholders, gaining invaluable experience in teamwork and understanding project requirements.

-
The project was instrumental in deepening our understanding of the key requirements of the user base for both the FOX News and FOX Business platforms, and it provided insights into how these requirements could be seamlessly integrated into the Living Room platform.
Electronic Program Guide
Platform
The Electronic Program Guide is a vintage and classic-themed channel guide for FOX Nation authenticated channels that the users can browse through on their Living room, Web, and Mobile platforms.
Problem
-
FOX Nation already had a live TV section consisting of a new VOD-inspired design.
-
However as the target audience is above 45 years of age, users struggle to navigate through these screens which causes them to lose track and end up abandoning the application.
Solution
To address this challenge, we opted for a traditional approach and focused on developing an EPG design reminiscent of those used by TV providers. This choice was made because it resonates more with our target audience, creating a sense of familiarity and enhancing user engagement.
Results and Learning
-
Following this process, we effectively transferred the design to the engineering team for implementation.

-
Throughout the design journey, we discovered that our demographic preferred a straightforward approach over a more elaborate feature list. This insight guided us in keeping the design simple and achieving the intended user interaction goals.

-
The project also revealed that a minor elemental change resulted in a significant 30% increase in user interaction on the Living Room platform, highlighting the impact of thoughtful design decisions.
